Who we are

Austin Shepperd, founder and operator, brings over 15 years of experience in survival, bushcraft, and emergency readiness. With a background in search and rescue, EMT response, and systems engineering, he blends hands-on expertise with technical precision. A certified Jeet Kune Do instructor and lifelong martial artist, Austin also consults on permaculture homesteads and sustainable living systems. Known as a modern-day MacGyver, he’s passionate about repurposing technology for real-world resilience and empowering others with practical, adaptable skills.

A true renaissance maker, Austin’s work goes far beyond checklists and gear — he’s devoted to passing on the lost arts of hands-on craftsmanship and practical problem solving. He teaches blacksmithing, carpentry, welding, knife-making, and fundamental mechanical skills like changing tires and small-engine repair, and he mentors students in hunting, trapping, and fieldcraft so they can responsibly source food and move confidently in the outdoors. He trains with a wide variety of weapons systems and pursues marksmanship and firearms training as part of a holistic approach to safety and competency. Austin believes that curiosity about how systems work — from a stove to a solar array to a hand-forged tool — is the root of resilience. His mission is to cultivate more capable, compassionate, and adaptable people: makers who can fix what’s broken, care for their communities, and meet uncertainty with creativity and calm.
